CUSHMAN AND WAKEFIELD               CHICAGO, IL     2014 – PRESENT
Global Chief Information Officer (CIO)
Driving strategic vision of technology and innovation for this leading real estate and property services firm with 43,000 employees in 60 countries. As part of the Executive Committee, have responsibility for all information technology and systems, processes and solutions including client-facing technology services. Focused on leading initiatives that improve productivity, increase agility, enhance shareholder value, and strengthen client services through insight and analytics.

  • Driving major HR and Finance transformation, including global implementation of Workday Financials and Human Capital Management, a new cloud-based commission system, and a major new outsourcing partnership with Accenture
  • Consolidated and restructured global technology team, improving focus on business development and innovation while strengthening shared services such as infrastructure and solution design
  • Leading major integration program bringing together legacy systems from three major acquisitions into new global, standard platforms for CRM, network and telephony, collaboration, financial reporting, and key business applications

AVIVA PLC                                                    LONDON, UK        2012 – 2013
Technology and Security Services Director (Global CTO and Global CISO)
Was brought in by this FTSE 100 insurer and asset manager to create a group-wide shared services provider for IT infrastructure and was given expanded role twice during term, first adding IT Supplier Management then all of the functions previously under a Chief Information Security Officer.  Led global infrastructure services and solutions, end-to-end service management and operations, IT Supplier Management, and Business Protection functions for Aviva globally. Budget circa £350 Million ($550 M) with in-house staff of ~1500.

  • Reduced headcount and run-rate cost within the combined functions by over 10% while greatly improving stability and developing new products and services
  • Implemented Service Improvement Program which closed 36 critical service risks, reduced severity 1 and severity 2 outages by ~40%, and cut total business disruption by over 95%.
  • Created a global leadership team and organization, bringing together resources from multiple business units into a team that collaborates across borders
  • Built the first Global Security Operations Center for Aviva and accelerated a broader risk program

AON CORPORATION                         CHICAGO, IL                     2008 – 2011
Global Chief Technology Officer (Global CTO)
Served as chief technology officer of Aon, the leading global provider of risk management, insurance and reinsurance brokerage, and human resources solutions and outsourcing services. Worked with IT partners and business leadership at Aon to establish and implement the firm’s global technology strategy. Provided oversight over all infrastructure, enterprise architecture, and shared technology in support of Aon’s presence in over 120 countries for over 60,000 colleagues. Budget circa $450 Million with in-house staff of ~980.

  • Implemented a strategic framework that aligned the entire division and its activities against four core elements: cost reduction, stability, flexibility, and productivity enhancement
  • Completed build of Aon’s first truly global managed network, consolidating dozens of countries and cutting over 30% in global network spend as a result
  • Reduced global infrastructure spend by over 15% over three years through demand management and infrastructure virtualization/optimization
  • Implemented first global collaboration and communication platform, in the cloud, that eliminated over 6000 Lotus Notes applications and 62 disparate email platforms

LASALLE BANK/ABN AMRO   CHICAGO, IL   2004 – 2008
North America Head of Technology Services and Solutions (2006 – 2008)
Responsible for delivery of all cross-business Technology Services and Solutions (both application support and infrastructure functions) provided to business units in North America including retail banking, mortgage, commercial and investment banking. Also managed the Enterprise Architecture function. Budget circa $250 Million with in-house staff of ~100

  • Created standard solution portfolio of services for the newly created Shared Services function
  • Restructured organization and managed integration of wholesale banking technology operations
  • Reduced costs by over 5% each year whilst maintaining or improving service

Global Manager of Infrastructure Outsourcing Transition (2005 – 2006)
Managed overall program coordination and integration, issue escalation and resolution for transition of operations delivery responsibilities, 1800 employees, resources and assets from over twenty ABN AMRO countries to IBM. Program finished on-time and in budget; with zero disruption on Day 1

Outsourcing Program Lead – North America (2004 – 2005)
Business Unit lead for global initiative to reduce costs through strategic outsourcing of selected Application Development, Support and Infrastructure functions.

Manager, Banking Strategy Practice (2000 – 2004)
Provided strategy and operations advice to clients in Financial Services, Communications, and Healthcare. Specifically focused on merger integration, joint ventures, shared services and outsourcing initiatives. Actively participated in and drove significant sales of new and add-on work. Selected engagements included:

  • Supported transformation efforts of a global financial services institution after a significant outsourcing. Realized over $20 million in annual savings
  • Managed global bank’s initiatives to reduce costs and improve efficiency of marketing spend with external vendors. Identified and achieved over $7 million in annual savings
  • Conducted a comprehensive operations review and diagnostic for a large retail brokerage. Identified over $40 million in cost savings and $200 million in revenue enhancement
